Changes to funding

From September, the funding allowance for 3+ children will increase from 12 hours to 15 hours per week. There will be more flexibility in how you can use these hours, albeit they are still paid only in term time.   Lambley Day Nursery has agreed 5 hours sessions with the County Council, which effectively means a full day + a half day can be funded.   However due to current national guidelines (which are under review), funded sessions cannot commence until 8am.  This means there will be a requirement to pay 85p for the first 15 minutes of the day where morning sessions are used and 4.75 hours will be claimed for funding.  5 hours will be claimed and no additional payment required for afternoon sessions.  The funding guidelines of 8am to 6pm are being reviewed, however for the time being the Early Years Team at the Council have stated this is the easiest way to comply.

If you have any queries or require any additional sessions due to the increase in funding allowance, please speak to Patsy.  Alternatively please send an email to l.d.n@btconnect.com .

Invoices and statements

We will shortly be handing out statements showing any amounts overdue, and invoices for the forthcoming quarter. Please check your invoice and statement and let us know if you have any queries.   We would be grateful if any amounts outstanding on the statement could be paid as soon as possible.

Nursery Extension HOORAY!!!

We have now officially had planning approval for the nursery extension. (It’s only taken a year!!!)

We will be starting work ASAP and will make sure there is no interruption to nursery proceedings.

News from the Rooms

Pre-School Room: have been making lots of 3D structures, with box modelling. Thank you for all of the boxes donated. They have also been looking at different shapes, and learning the names of them, recognising and recreating patterns using butterflies made by the children. They have been using the multi link cubes and pattern cards, and have been planting the garden with potatoes, onions and carrots.

Tweenie Room: have been doing the story of goldilocks and the three bears. They have been looking at size and shapes and patterns. The number 7 has been a focus, and they also have been looking at insects, bees and ladybirds, as part of learning about nature.

Baby Room: have been exploring different sensory materials, jelly and sand, and have been baking cakes and cookies. They have been spending more time out doors playing with balls and are going to create a summer display ‘at the seaside.

Nursery Improvements

We mentioned that we would be making some improvements to the décor of the nursery. To ensure we do not need to re-do any work, we intend to complete the conservatory before redecorating, to ensure that everything can be finished to a high standard.  New flooring is also planned.

Opening Times Reminder

Please could you make sure that children are not dropped off before 7.30am. Our Ofsted registration and insurances do not allow us to take in children before this time.  In order to comply, even if you arrive early, we must ask you to wait outside as our insurance and licence will not allow us to take children in until

7:30 am.

Nursery Brochures

Please ask Patsy for a brochure to pass on to any interested friends or relatives, as we have a few places available at the nursery in the next few months.
